Manage domain and site seperately

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I have added couple domains to the site, but I want to start from scratch. Because I want to manage the site on WordPress and manage the domains on my domain provider. Right now I think I have set it up wrong as to manage both of them on WordPress.com

    How can I do that?

    Thanks,

    Hi there,

To manage your domains on WordPress.com site you’ll first need to register a free WordPress.com address if you don’t have one already after which you can purchase a paid plan to map the first domain. From there you can map as many additional domains. You will only need to pay for the additional domain you add. See documentation below for mapping domain

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

    I hope this helps

    Hi,

So this does not answer my question exactly. I already have added 2 domains to my WordPress site. But I did a mistake when adding it because I wanted to keep my domain and site at different providers.

So for that reason, I want to remove the already mapped domain from my WordPress site and add it again. How can I remove the mapped domain?

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

A staff member can help with the unmapping of the domain. I will tag this a “modlook” for a staff’s assistance. Please be patient they will look into it.

  • Hi there,

Both domains that you have mapped (thrivesavings.com, thrivesavings.ca) are not registered through WordPress.com.

Are you looking to map a different domain?
