Manage Nameservers

I need to update nameservers for my website that was originally registered with WordPress. I just completed a hosting migration with Bluehost to use their Business Pro service in order to have https capability. Because my IP has changed during the migration, my A records need to be updated. How can I change my A records for my domain that was registered with WordPress? I would also like Bluehost to automatically manage my DNS in the future and need to change the nameservers to point to Bluehost.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

If your new host/registrar supports it, you’re best bet is to do a domain transfer to the new registrar.

Even if you’re unable to transfer the domain, you can still change the nameservers for your domain, which will then allow you to manage your DNS settings with the new provider.

Once you change the nameservers, any A record change will be need to made by managing the DNS with the new host/provider, and not within WordPress.com.

DNS can be confusing, so please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions about this process.

    Regards,
    Jay

  • Hi there,

Are you speaking of the domain, footscribe.me? That domain is not registered with us any more – it was transferred away from us in July 2015. Name servers can only be changed at the registrar where the domain is currently registered, so you’ll need to contact your current registrar for help with that.

The DNS appears to be currently hosted by Namefind.com, so if you only want to add custom A records, you’ll need to do that with them.
