Manage payment with WordPress
-
Hello there!
I’m in the process to create my online store using wordpress and I have questions concerning payment processing, I’m getting a bit confused among all the FAQs. : )
I see you partnered up with Stripe, would they take any commission on any of the sales happening on my store?
I also see the ecommerce plan offers payment in 60+ countries, how many countries can I get payments from if I choose the business plan?
Do the subscriptions also include an SSL certificate? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi there,
I see you partnered up with Stripe, would they take any commission on any of the sales happening on my store?
The only Stripe payments processing built into WordPress.com is for our recurring payments feature, where you can sell subscriptions to content on your WordPress.com site. You can find information on the transaction fees for payments using that feature here:
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/payments/#related-fees
If you’re using a Stripe payment gateway plugin on an ecommerce site, there will also be transaction fees. You’ll need to ask support for the specific payment gateway plugin you’re using, or contact Stripe support directly to enquire about those fees.
I also see the ecommerce plan offers payment in 60+ countries, how many countries can I get payments from if I choose the business plan?
The ecommerce plan gives you a WordPress.com site with the WooCommerce ecommerce plugin pre-installed. On that site you’ll be able to accept payments from any country, in any currency, as long as you use a payment processor and payment gateway plugin that supports it. So there’s no fixed list of countries – it depends on what specific payment processor you decide to use.
The ecommerce plan also comes with some payment gateway plugins for WooCommerce pre-installed, but you’re not restricted to using only those. You can find details on the pre-installed plugins here:
https://wordpress.com/support/ecommerce-plan/#payment-gateways
The Business Plan doesn’t come with any plugins pre-installed, but it allows you to use any plugin that currently exists for the open source WordPress software (excluding the small number we’ve specifically blocked due to incompatibility with out setup), so any payment gateway plugin you can use on the eCommerce plan, you can also use on the Business Plan.

Do the subscriptions also include an SSL certificate?
All sites on WordPress.com have SSL enabled by default, even on our free plan.
