Manage purchases – No option to remove purchase or delete account?

Hi there,
We are getting billed for a spam filtering service every year it appears. We’re not sure when or why this was purchased or even what site this was for. Unfortunately we can’t remove/unsubscribe from this service because the ‘Manage Purchases’ page only shows us a message saying ‘You don’t have a website’. Very helpful.
How do we stop getting billed for a service we’re not using? We can’t even delete this account apparently…

Hi @venturesthld, you probably just aren’t logged into the proper account. Head over to wpchrg.com and enter relevant details there, and we’ll help you find the right account so you can deal with the charge as needed.
Or if you’re getting renewal emails about the charges, log out, then log in again using that email address. Then you can manage upgrades or get in touch directly.
Or, if neither of those options work for you, we can reach out via email so you can send us the date of the charge / name on the card so we can try to find the charges that way. Let us know!

I resolved this by following links in my bill history.
If WordPress owns Akismet why can’t I simly use the WordPress interface to manage billing?
Why can’t I cancel my accounts?
On the Akismet website I follow the link to cancel my account and the option is greyed out.
Honestly it really seems like your business model is to lock users into services and payments.
Can you please delete my account?

Hi @venturesthld, sorry for the confusion. You should be able to cancel by following these steps:
https://docs.akismet.com/billing/cancel-subscription/If not, get in touch with Akismet support while logged in so the team will have the proper account info.

Yep, the link shown in the above doc isn’t clickable.
This would still leave me with a WordPress.com account I need to get deleted wouldn’t it?

@venturesthld hmm, not clickable in what way?
And to clarify, you have a WordPress.com account already, you’re using this account to communicate, and if your Akismet isn’t under this account you’ve got another one for that. You can log in and cancel all paid services if you’d like, and remove the sites here:
