managed wp site

    Hi there,
I have my site hosted by Ionos, but it looks like it still remained a ‘managed’ site (I run into a htaccess issue)
I could not figure WHY I have no full accees…so my only idea is that it somehow still managed by WP.com
    Is that possible?
i have tried to delete everything from my account here…
    Please advise!
    Regards

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hi there,

Your site at Ionos have absolutely no connect to your WordPress.com account and the site you have hosted on our end, and deleting your WordPress.com site or account won’t do anything to resolve the issue you’re seeing.

.htaccess is a configuration file on your server, so if that’s causing an issue on your site, you’ll want to contact Ionos directly for help, as they’re the ones that control your server.

By the way, in a hosting context “managed” simply means that stuff like the server configuration and WordPress installation and updates on your server is handled by your host, rather than manually by you. In some cases it can also mean your host restricts you from making changes to certain files, usually because changing those files are almost certain to break your site, and on many managed hosting plans your hosting provider also has an admin user account on your site so they can log into the dashboard directly if needed to help you with something.

All this managing is done by your host, however, so Ionos in this case. It does not imply a link between your site and WordPress.com :)
