Managing an existing website

  I have just taken over an existing website, with a domain and host already in place. Can I link it to WordPress so that I can manage the site and edit the content with my WordPress ID.

  Hi @markbeagsrlsbc, possibly. Can you send a link to your site so we can check? Noting too, I don’t see any sites under this account. If you have a different account you manage other sites with already, I’d recommend linking to that user.

  The URL of the site is http://www.rlsbc.org. The current user told me she is logging into WordPress as (email visible only to moderators and staff) or (email visible only to moderators and staff) – but I have tried to log in under her ID and it is not recognised. So as you can see, I’m at a bit of a loss and would like to link the website to my new ID (this one). I can get her to authorise this change if that helps?

  Hi there,

  None of those email addresses is associated with a WordPress.com account. Please have them add you as an administrator to their site and then tell them to follow the instructions below to transfer the Jetpack connection from their WordPress.com account to yours.

  Thanks fstat. That’s really helpful. There will be a few days delay I’m afraid as the current admin has just flown off to Italy for a conference :o(
