Managing an expired domain
-
Hi. I have a blog registered at voandonumaboa.wordpress.com that used to have a domain I bought through WordPress Store (voandonumaboa.com). It expired and I cancelled the upgrade sometime ago because my intention was to close the blog. I changed my mind and decided to reactivate it, but registered the same old .com domain (voandonumaboa.com) through NameCheap. Now, when I try to add Mapping to my WordPress blog, it says the upgrade expired and gives me no option to renew it. How can I solve this, please? Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

theverytiger,
I am seeing http://theverytiger.wordpress.com/ point correctly to your WordPress.com site.
It can take 24-48 hours for domain/DNS changes to propagate throughout the internet. It typically happens faster than that, but it really depends on your ISPs update frequency. If you are still not seeing the correct site appear after 48 hours has elapsed, please contact me again.
Also, do let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately when I try to view http://theverytiger.wordpress.com/ or honeylucasblog.wordpress.com (my new name for the blog) it still takes me to a blog that is not mine. It has content that isn’t mine and is using a theme that I am not currently using.
I take your point about waiting for DNS changes to populate around the system but my custom domain name expired several months ago, so I am not sure that can be the cause?
When I log in via the page that is showing I get 2 options, both called TheVeryTiger’s Blog. One takes me to the dashboard for the bogus site, showing no posts etc and the chateau theme. The other takes me to my real blog, showing all my posts etc. But when I try to view that one it still takes me to http://www.theverytiger.com domain which I no longer own and which is now showing content from someone else.
I am sorry if I am being stupid but I am now really confused!!! Any help much appreciated.

Hi rootjosh, yes, it happens in a different browser and on a different machine.
I have been googling – do you think that my blog DNS is still pointing to the old custom domain, even though my domain mapping expired? That would seem to explain why it keeps redirecting me away from the real blog and to the page that someone has randomly set up on my old custom domain.
thanks again for your help!

Here are screenshots of what I am seeing when I go to those two sites:
honeylucasblog.wordpress.com –
http://theverytiger.wordpress.com –
Does that match what you are seeing? If not, can you take a screenshot of what you ARE seeing?
Here are some screenshot instructions if you are not familiar with the process:
I find http://snag.gy/ to be very useful for sharing screenshots. You can also upload the screenshot to your site’s media library. I will be able to see it there.
