Managing publicize – preventing from posting long link and/or image
-
Previously when using Twitter via publicize, I could include the short link to reduce the number of characters the link would take up and then customize my Tweet. Now it automatically includes the full link (even if I add the short link) which eats up a chunk of the 140 character Tweet. Plus the publicize box doesn’t take into account the number of characters in the link, so I have to craft the Tweet elsewhere with the link so I know how many characters I’m using and then paste into the box. Otherwise, it cuts off the main part of my Tweet. In addition, it now automatically posts the featured image, which I don’t always want. Does anyone know how I can 1) revert to being able to limit to the short link and 2) specify when I want the featured image tweeted? I like the convenience of knowing that the post will be tweeted when it’s published, but the lack of customization means I may have to stop using publicize and manually post via Twitter.

There aren’t any plans at the moment to switch back to using the shortlink when publicizing your posts with the Publicize feature, so if you prefer how that shortlink looks your best bet is to manually share your posts with that link on Twitter and Facebook.

Thanks for sharing this info and link to previous discussion. It’s too bad that there aren’t plans to revert back to the previous version of publicize. They’ve take a useful, time-saving resource and made it more cumbersome.
