Manual change http to https – fatal error 404, lost access to my website

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
I own the website on hostinghouse.pl based on WordPress. My friend manually changed the “http” to “https” in the URL address on WP settings page… And it all crashed, I was logged out, and what shows up now when I try to log to my website is:

    Not Found
The requested URL /wp-login.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    ______________
I can’t access my login page through anything; I enabled the “under construction” mode before, so that’s the information I see when entering my main website page. I am a complete beginner in IT, so I have absolutely no idea, what to do now. I feel completely lost, can’t even log in and try to repair my mistake.
And I didn’t do any backup of my page… (I know, my bad).

Is there any way this could be fixed?

I will be extremely grateful for any help and advice!

    Best,

    Aga

  • Hi Aga, sorry to hear you’re having trouble! I want to clarify your site is not hosted on our servers (we don’t let folks change that setting). So in the future you’ll want to refer to https://wordpress.org/support for support.

This article may help in the meantime:
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL

It has some backup methods you can use to fix the URL if it’s broken. Please work with your host on this as well. Good luck!
