Manual excerpts and display-posts short code

  I have added manual excerpts to four of my posts (the ones tagged tour2015) for the purpose of using the following short code.

  [display-posts tag="tour2015" order="ASC" include_excerpt="true"]

  When I viewed the post containing the above short code after adding the first manual excerpt it correctly showed the excerpt instead of the first few sentences (as it still did for the other three that hadn’t yet been editted). So then I went ahead and added manual excerpts to the others, but they never show up on the display posts output. Why? Can you only gave one manual excerpt?

  So while I wait for an answer I changed my display-posts shortcode to
  [display-posts tag="tour2015" order="ASC" include_excerpt="false"]
  and now all my manual excerpts show up! Reverting still show previous behaviour.

  So, now my question us, what does include_excerpt mean and why does true only pick up the manual excerpt for one of the posts, when false picks up the manual excerpt for all four. And why does false show any excerpts at all?
