Many Eyes visualisations – embed in WordPress?
-
Having trouble with this, dont think I am first. Only the html code provided by the Many Eyes site for embedding a static version of a visualisation works in WordPress. This isn’t very satisfactory (and comes out pretty small) http://regenerationem.wordpress.com/2009/07/08/visualisation-of-co2-emissions-in-the-east-midlands/
The html code from Many Eyes for interactive visualisations keeps disappearing as soon as I update the post.
Any ideas/solutions/explanations?
Thx

Yes: that code is not supported here for security reasons and is being stripped out. It is most likely Flash, and that is not permitted here because each blog shares the core of its technology with everyone else using the same theme. A security risk like Flash introduced there would effect everyone using the same theme. You can see the FAQ for a list of accepted and supported formats, but Flash, Javascript and similar are not among them. Sometimes you can re-upload something to YouTube or one of the supported sites and use it that way though.

As for the image you have inserted, “comes out pretty small” can be corrected. Go to the html post editor and change this:
size=200×150
to this:
w=600
Or whatever width you prefer (up to 600, which is the maximum for the theme you’re using).
