Many things broken that used to work

Several things have recently become broken/stopped working on my blog.
1. I’m signed up for WordPress.com Premium, yet I cannot upload video.
2. The Suggested Tags feature has disappeared from my sidebar when writing posts
3. The “related posts” feature has disappeared from my sidebar when writing posts
4. The Zemanta free image content feature is gone.
I understand some of this had to do with “upgrading” the dashboard. Stupid move, if so, as it has made wordpress.com even less attarctive now.

Please note that the suggested tags and related posts were a part of Zemanta which ended on January 2nd. You can read more about this and alternatives here.
Zemanta also provides browser extensions you can use to provide similar functionality:

As for the uploading videos, can you tell me exactly where the issue is occurring? Since you have WordPress.com Premium on the site: wattsupwiththat.com you can use VideoPress to upload HD videos on that site. You can find more information in the support guide below:
If you find that it’s still not working, can you please provide me screenshots of the issue? I’d love to take a further look and see what I can do!

Jon Burke at WordAds helped solve the video issue last night, some sort of setting was messed up in wp.com that they had to fix.
As for the Zemanta fiasco. I, like many others, have been blindsided by this change. I didn’t receive any notice. There’s nothing in wp.com news either: http://en.blog.wordpress.com/
As the number one blog on wordpress for the last week I think I would be safe in saying that all you folks have done is caused many of us more work, not only from the removal of an important feature, but because the change was handled poorly, we find ourselves scouring our settings trying to figure out what WE did wrong.
This would be a good candidate for the FAIL blog.

BTW the Zemanta plugin won’t work in my FireFox 23.0.1 on Windows. It won’t finish installing.

I’m sorry you are having trouble with the plugin! Please contact Zemanta directly here, as they would be able to help you with this.
Have you checked out the Related Posts feature? If the feature is enabled, a section of related posts appears just underneath your Sharing Buttons and WordPress.com Likes (if you’ve turned these on).
Also, we have this support guide on finding free images and other media that would be helpful as well!

Thanks for the reply. Yes I’m aware of the related posts feature, but it’s weakness is that it often references unrelated posts and I have no control over what to select. It also appears outside of the body of the current post and gets lost in the clutter.
Overall I think this removal of Zemanta is a train wreck. You guys took something that worked fine and was useful and broke it, without giving any notice. This is the kind of keystone kops stuff we expect from Facebook, not from WordPress.
It has made me start looking again for a hosting solution off wordpress.com
