Many widgets not available anymore in all themes?
-
Hi, I’ve been trying to change my theme but when I do and go to “available widgets”, with the filter set to “show all widgets” to add a new widget to a sidebar, they are not available (they don’t have an “add” link to add it). This has been the case for every theme I’ve tried – the same widgets are not available across the board. They are not appearing under “current widgets” on the right hand side either, when I apply a new theme.
No matter which theme I try to apply, the following widgets are not available: delicious, search, RSS subscribe, calendar, archives, links, blog stats, top posts, flickr.
Fortunately I can change my theme back to the one I have been using and the settings, and widgets, are still there.

I have had the same trouble… I have no idea how to get my links/blogroll in the sidebar when I change to a new theme!!!

When you switch themes, do the widgets simply vanish from the sidebar? I’m wondering if there might be a workaround where you add them all in your current theme, then switch themes. If they’re not visible behind the scenes that’s a problem, but at least they’d be useable on teh front end for your readers.

Ok… I have figure it out. I went from a “2” sidebar theme, to a “1” sidebar theme. I had to get rid of my links widget from my number “2” sidebar. That then put in back into the unused widget section on the left of my dashboard.
So it seems that number “2” sidebar is not the priority (oh duh… seems obvious now!)
So you have to get rid of the links from sidebar “2” which then makes them all unused, then you can have access to them and put them where you like in a singular sidebar theme.
Does that make sense… I am sooo not technically minded.

Ah. I was wondering if you were both picking ONLY themes that were not widget-enabled or something. Makes total sense.
