Map a domain with the free plan
-
Hi! I want to map an owned domain with wordpress. I did this for another one of my sites and it costed $13 a year.
But for this new site, I cannot find this option! Every time I want to map the site, it adds to the cart the Premium Upgrade of $99.
All I want is the $13 mapping. What to do?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there,
I’m not sure about your scenario but there’s been a change to the pricing model.Domain mapping can only be added to a site as part of a paid plan. Adding additional domain mappings on top of those already in your plan costs $13, but the first one must be as part of a plan:

Yeah, I guess you’re right. Thanks.
It is weird either way because it doesn’t even allow me to choose another plan (“Personal” for example). They just add “Premium” by default…
Anyway, if they don’t want my money, I’ll just move to another hosting… :) Because I really don’t need the other stuff in the upgrade right now, except mapping… -
Instead navigate directly to the Pricing Page and select the plan you would like to activate for your site.

Yeah, but I have no warranty that if I choose “Personal” it will map my new domain without asking for “Premium” anyway… It might just behave as weird as now.
And this was just an observation anyway. I don’t need “Personal” plan either.
I just need mapping for a very very small site. I’m not willing to pay $38 or $99 a year for hosting a 20M site. ;)
Thanks a lot anyway! -
You’re welcome Vlad. If it is a small site and you want to add a custom domain for free, you can checkout GitHub pages. Instructions for adding a custom domain can be found here. Hope that helps.
