    Why do I have to move my domain to your name servers when doing “Map an Existing Domain” – it should be possible to point an A or CNAME record at your server farm….

    For some people it’s not an option to move the domain due to _domainkey and spf …

    Hello! You’re more than welcome to set up an A record to map your domain. However our IP addresses are not static, so your domain will break at some point.

    The best way to map your domain is by changing your name servers. This is the most reliable and simple way to map your domain.

    If you need help with a specific domain, let me know what domain it is and what you’re trying to do!

    You don’t list _domainkey and spf as possible options, but in any case I do not want to move my domain(s) to a US based nameserver.

    But I understand now, it is only possible to map a domain if one is using a wordpress.com name server.

    This isn’t true. As I said, you can also map your domain using A records. And if you’re mapping a subdomain such as blog.example.com you can set up a CNAME record for that.

    Usually domainkey and spf records are formatted as TXT records. For example, Google uses an SPF record for their mail service that looks like this:

    v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all

    You would add this as a TXT record.

    Our DNS settings aren’t limited, you have all the same capabilities for your domain here as you do with your registrar. If you let me know the specific DNS settings you’re trying to set up for your domain, I can help you out!
