Map blog to external domain?
-
Hi there,
I’m trying to setup my blog with a domain.
The domain hosted with a 3rd party is carparkchoir.com.
I have updated the name servers with he 3rd party as below:Name Server 1 ns1.wordpress.com
Name Server 2 ns2.wordpress.com
Name Server 3 ns3.wordpress.comI can also see an IP address with the 3rd party for carparkchoir.com.
I’m confused what to do on WordPress’ side.
The blog is titled The Carpark Choir and its address is carparkchoir.wordpress.com.In WordPress, in the Domains section, an expired and editable domain is shown as thecarparkchoir.com. When I try and update the DNS records, the NS record doesn’t delete and when I enter a new A record like carparkchoir.com and provide an IP address it changes to carparkchoir.com.thecarparkchoir.com.
Should I actually be trying to map the blog to the external domain?
People should find the blog by navigating to carparkchoir.com and that same url should appear in the address bar when they land at the site.
Can someone please advise?!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

On the WordPress.com side, you will have to purchase Domain Mapping upgrade on WordPress.com and map your existing domain to your WordPress.com blog. Here are the instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
On your domain registrar (from who you purchased your domain) side, you change the name servers of your domain to WordPress.com name servers.
All the information is documented in the aforementioned support guide.
Just be aware that you pay to your registrar to keep your domain and you pay WordPress.com for domain mapping. That’s two annual costs.
