Map Domain

  I want to create a new site, but I have an existing domain that I have mapped on my own (not through wordpress). I cannot see how to create the site unless I choose to buy a domain from wordpress, or map an existing site from wordpress.

  – Do you want to use that existing domain here instead of it’s current place?

  You don’t have to connect the domain until you’re ready. Lots of folks decide to wait on that step until the new site, on WordPress.com is complete. The other option is to keep the site private until ready. Here’s how you do that:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  Go ahead and register your free address, and build the site on that. Then, once you are ready, connect the domain.

  Click My Sites – Domains – Add to get a free site.
