Map Domain means moving current site altogether?

    A website I have needs to be moved to WordPress. So the domain already exists. If I map the domain, does that mean the website in its entirety remains the same and we still have to use the old program to edit it? OR will we start anew with our website blank and get to use the WordPress platform?
    To me, mapping sounds like you’re just routing the url through WordPress’ servers. We don’t want that. We want to use only WordPress and our current domain.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
