Map external domain with A records

Hi,
I own a domain that I did not register with WordPress.com, and I’ve been using it for e-mail for some time.
Now I want to use it for a WP.com site too. Can I map the domain to WordPress through A records instead of setting WordPress’ nameservers? If I do the latter my e-mail will be temporarily out of service until I set the MX records, and I want to avoid that downtime.

Hi there.
The best way to map a domain to a WordPress.com blog is to set your domain’s name servers to the following values:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
However, if your registrar requires that you create A records, please note that our IPs change over time. Because of this, your domain might stop working at some point in the future. If that happens, please get in touch with us to find out the most current IPs and then update your A records, accordingly.
If you still want to map your domain using A records, please be sure to create two records using these IP addresses:
192.0.78.25
192.0.78.24
