Map my domain

  I created this wordpress account as a ‘free’ account. But when I tried to map my domain, WordPress is asking me to choose one of the paid plans. Why?

  Why? Because you can’t map a domain you own elsewhere to a site here at WordPress,com for free. A paid plan is required:
  https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
