  Why does it cost to Map my domain at the current registrar, but to transfer my domain away from my current registrar costs nothing?

  Hi there,

  A custom domain can only be mapped to a WordPress.com upgraded plan. This is not one of their free features.

  Hi there,

  To either map or transfer a domain to WordPress.com you need to have a paid plan. You can’t do either on the Free plan.
