Mapping a custom domain
-
Hi. I’d like to connect my WordPress site to a domain that I already own. When I click ‘Map it’ it tells me this will cost £11 per year, but when I enter the details and click OK, it says I need to pay £85. Is there anyway I can do this without signing up to a premium package?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You can not have domain mapping without an upgrade but you can decide between different plans.
Do you already own a domain name? If you would like to use it here on WordPress.com all you need to do is “map” your existing domain to your site. You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to map a domain.
You can choose a Personal, Premium or Business plan to upgrade to. Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit you can use to either register a new domain or map one you already own.
Personal is best if you want a custom domain name and remove all WordPress.com advertising. It includes email and live chat support too.
Premium offers you the possibility to build a unique website with advanced design tools, CSS editing, lots of space for audio and video, and the ability to monetize your site with ads.
Business provides you with unlimited premium and business theme templates, Google Analytics support, unlimited storage, and the ability to remove WordPress.com branding.
You can find more details about How to Use a Domain You Already Own here: support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain
Cheers,
Gina
