Mapping a Domain?
-
Hello. I am posting this on behalf of a friend! We are completely lost on how to create a website. According to her, she already has a domain name which she bought (curlystarstuff.com) and she wants to use it by creating a blog. She wants to use wordpress, but wants that same domain (curlystarstuff.com not. ‘.wordpress.com’). Can we do that by tying the domain to a free wordpress account? Do we have to upgrade the account? Could we use the domain at all? And finally, if we do have to upgrade it can we upgrade it to the personal blog – the one that’s $2.99. We do not want to generate any revenue or ads or anything. Just a simple blog. Please let me know as soon as you can!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Good Morning –
You can absolutely use a domain that you’ve already purchased elsewhere here at WordPress.com.
To use curlystarstuff.com, you’ll want to set up Domain Mapping. You can do that through our WordPress.com Personal Plan.
Each year, you’ll need to renew your domain through the registrar and your domain mapping through WordPress.com to keep your blog online and active.
You will still have a .wordpress.com free site on your account. It’s used to tie your custom domain to us. Your visitors will only see the custom domain, curlystarstuff.com, in their browser.
Let me know if I can help with anything else!
