mapping a domain

We have our DNS hosted elsewhere and need to keep it that way. I have followed the directions for mapping a domain already owned. I get an error every time saying the domain is not registered. I have created the CNAME link as instructed in my hosted DNS. Any suggestions?

Hi @lyle2waymscom, I’ll take a look. What domain are you trying to map? I don’t see any domains mapped on this account or on the site you’ve mentioned.
Also, cnames only work with subdomains, but if you’ll let me know what the domain is I’ll check your options.

I’m trying to map blog.2-way.biz to the site above. Somehow we managed to map 2wayms.com to it, but our primary business domain is 2-way.biz. We have to keep this domain DNS hosted where it is for ecommerce reasons but want to link in the blog.
I appreciate any assistance!

Okay, I found https://blog.2wayms.com/ — it’s just a different site than the one you selected, and it’s owned under another account. Did you want to add blog.2wayms.com to 2waymsdotcom.wordpress.com ?
If so, I’ve added the upgrade properly for you here:
https://wordpress.com/checkout/blog.2wayms.comYou’ll also want to fix the CNAME. Make sure you just have the one pointing to 2waymsdotcom.wordpress.com .

Sorry, I don’t undertand really. When I log in I see:
2waymsdotcom.wordpress.com – “included with site”
2wayms.com – “mapped domain”
blog.2wayms.com – “primary domain”I want http://blog.2-way.biz to point to something we can use. It would seem like I should be able to use 2waymsdotcom.wordpress.com and not have to pay to map 2wayms.com since we don’t use that. I simply can’t figure out the setup.
If you can get blog.2-way.biz to be functional even if it has to point to blog.2wayms.com that would be fine and I would be thrilled.

Ah, you had not mentioned this before. I had understood you were getting an error as described in your initial request.
If you will log in as the user who bought mapping for 2wayms.com, you can then authorize us to change that to a different domain.

OK, we were able to add the domain when logged in as the other user however when anyone goes to http://blog.2-way.biz it resolves to https://blog.2wayms.com/
Can this be fixed so that it shows as blog.2-way.biz please?
