mapping a domain
-
HI
I bought my domain on getdotted last month. i would like to use wordpress to create the website. i looked at domain mapping and read all your blurb on it but it isn’t clear – when i map my domain will the web address of my site be citygirlwhisperer.com as i intend or will it become citygirlwhistperer.wordpress.com? i think the literature you have available on this is confusing tbh and the site shows me both names when i come to the payment page so i really need someone to explain.
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
When you come to payment page,
On left side panel it would show WordPress.com paid plan for “citygirlwhistperer.wordpress.com” domain
And Domain Mapping for “citygirlwhisperer.com” this domain.
This is because you are upgrading your plan which is prerequisite for domain mapping.
Let me know if this clears your doubt.

Thanks that is what it shows. i realise i’m being silly but does that mean then that the final web address will be citygirlwhisperer.com?

sorry – another question. once i’ve processed the payment, is that all that is required to complete the mapping? then i get started at building the website via wordpress? thanks, A

but does that mean then that the final web address will be citygirlwhisperer.com?
Any requests going to citygirlwhistperer.wordpress.com will be redirected to citygirlwhisperer.com. You can share your website address as citygirlwhisperer.com with people.

You will need to point name servers to WordPress.com
Refer point 2 in this,
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/Once you upgrade your plan you get email/Live chat support feature. Staff would assist you on further process if you get stuck.

One more point I would like to add,
After pointing name servers to WordPress.com set your primary domain as “citygirlwhisperer.com”
