mapping a domain

It says 17$/year for the mapping. Then there are monthly plans that at its cheapest add up to $60/year at a minimum. What am I missing?

I don’t know where you’re seeing the $17 figure. Perhaps that refers to additional domains. Currently the cheapest way to map a domain you own elsewhere to a new WordPress.com site will be by purchasing a Personal plan.

Hmm OK Well it is unclear (being a newbie) Here is the link:
Let’s get your site a domain!RH Column “C$17.00 per year plus registration costs at your current provider”
Here is the confusion for me. I thought the service was free if you purchased a domain (Which I already have). So this $17 looks like it replaces the domain charge and then its free after that? Gotta say that I feel it is misrepresenting the cost.

As that link goes straight to a page where I’m asked to choose a paid plan I’ll tag this thread to ask a staff member to check exactly what you’re seeing.

You can map just the domain at that rate, or you can purchase a paid plan which will include the mapping for free. :)
For details, please see https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Sorry for the confusion!
