Mapping A Domain

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi. I’m not going to do this now because I’m so sick and tired of dealing with websites right now. Nothing has gone according to plan. I purchased a domain with Asura Hosting because they said they do WP and they’re much cheaper than Go Daddy. I found out why. So instead of dealing with their crap, I decided I’d just map my domain through them to my free site here. I searched the help and found out how to do it. When I went to that page, it had detailed instructions that didn’t help me at all. I can only assume things have been changed since that article was written and now what it describes doesn’t apply to what is seen. You might want to look into it. I’m just going to redirect to my free site now and just leave it. When the domain runs out next year I’ll just have the free site. Thanks.

Thank you for reaching out to WordPress.com and hope all is well with you!

I am sorry to hear that you had encountered some issues with the website and I understand that you needed to map your domain. I am happy to help!

You can certainly perform a Domain Mapping with WordPress.com. Kindly check on the link for the WordPress.com support document about Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping).

However, please note that you need to be on any of our WordPress.com paid Plans in order to have this done.

Kindly refer to the following link on the paid Plans that are offered by WordPress.com.

We look forward to getting you onboard and do let me know if you have any additional questions.

    Stay safe.

I appreciate you telling me how to do what I said I’m not going to do now. I was just letting y’all know that that page needs to be updated. If I ever need to do this again one day, I’ll reference this. Thanks.

Thanks for your feedback. I just wanted to clarify that @zigzagboogaaloo is a volunteer on our forums (thanks for your help!) and not a member of staff, but I can confirm that we are making some very recent changes to our domain connection process, and the online documentation will be edited soon to match.

In the meantime you are welcome to reach out to us for help, and we’d be happy to walk you through this or any issue you are facing with your site. Hope this helps!
