Mapping a Domain without Premium Plan

I used to be able to pay $18 a year for registering a domain, without buyign a premium plan. Now I have to buy the plan? I have purchased the domain womenwhohappentobemoms.com from GoDaddy, and want to use this as my domain name, how can I hook this to my wordpress site womenwhohappentobemoms.wordpress.com without buying the $99 Premium Package. Is this new??

Yes, this has been a recent policy change. All new domain mappings will now be possible only as part of a Premium/Business upgrade. The official support page mentions this here:
