Where do I find the DNS numbers for wordpress to map the existing site to wordpress.

  • The best way to map a domain to a WordPress.com blog is to set your domain’s name servers to the following values:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM

    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM

    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

However, if your registrar requires that you create A records, please note that our IPs change over time. Because of this, your domain might stop working at some point in the future. If that happens, please get in touch with us to find out the most current IPs and then update your A records, accordingly.

If you still want to map your domain using A records, please be sure to create two records using these IP addresses:

    192.0.78.25

    192.0.78.24

This is incredibly confusing. I am trying to help the owner set this up. can you please send me the message explaining the following.

I set these up with the domain registrar.

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Now I am trying to map the domains. I keep getting an error message telling me that the domain already exists when I try to pay the $18.00 fee. (not really clear on he charges since I am trying to map to a domain that should be $13.00 according to the info.)

question: Must I set this up as a business account in order to map it? That is not clear. I don’t want to GO PREMIUM. I just want to use wordpress as the domain.

    Thanks

  • What is the domain in question?

    I figured it out.

I set up a new admin account that opened me up to a whole new set up options, along with instructions.

I set up a Home page and a post page and played around with the site a bit and then I was able to map the site to wordpress.

WordPress needs to mention the need to set up an admin account and a home page before they send you to the “add Domain” section. I wasted a lot of time trying to “add the Domain” before I figured it out.

  • Glad you got it sorted out.

Thanks for checking back. Now you have my explanation of the steps to refer back to should others need it.
