Mapping an existing domain
-
Hi, i’m a complete novice so please be very patronising and explain everything! :)
I want to get rid of the.wordpress from my blog, so if I understand I need to map to an existing domain, i’ve read this: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
But it means very little to me, it says to update the domain name servers but how do I do this? It says if you don’t know to contact the registrar but I think that’s me! (The person that created the blog?)
I understand the $17 charge but please talk me through how to do it!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You paid someone money when you registered your domain, they are the Register and that is where the name-servers are changed.
You are the Domain Owner (renter actually since if you don’t renew the registration the name goes away).
-
Also we need the URL of the blog you want to map beginning with http to provide you with accurate help since the URL associated with your name has been deleted.
-
Ah, in that case I haven’t registered my domain, I thought that’s what wordpres did, can you recommend a company to register it?
And then I need a host right? (heard go daddy is good?)
Then I map domain?

Registering your domain through wordpress.COM is less expensive and less hassle as some of the stuff, such as the DNS records are set automatically for you.
