Mapping an Existing Domain

  Hi – just getting started and need some basic help. I own my own domain and want to change the wordpress.com address to my domain. However, I have only purchased the name, no one is hosting it. Do I need to get a host first and then change it, or can WordPress act as my host? Thanks for any REALLY basic advice you can provide!
