Mapping both an externally registered domain and a subdomain to my wordpress.com blog
-
Hi,
I would like to have both x.example.com and example.com direct to my blog hosted here on WordPress. I would like x.example.com to be the primary, e.g. so when a user visits example.com they are redirected to sean.heelan.ie. To achieve this will it suffice to take the following actions:
1. Change my nameserver records to be ns1.wordpress.com, ns2.wordpress.com etc where my domain is registered
2. Add a CNAME record ‘x.example.com IN CNAME example.wordpress.com’
3. Add the domain x.example.com to my WordPress domains, and make it my primary domain. Will the above work or do I need to take some other actions as well? For example, do I need to add both example.com and x.example.com as domains on wordpress?
Cheers,

I can’t seem to edit the original post, but the line “e.g. so when a user visits example.com they are redirected to sean.heelan.ie” should be “e.g. so when a user visits example.com they are redirected to x.example.com”.
