mapping domain

Hi. I currently have a site that I built with iWeb years ago. It is hosted by GoDaddy. But the site crashed this morning and I have been on hold with them all morning. I need help moving the site and the site needs to have an SSL certificate.

Hi @2ndchurch, you’re welcome to set up the site here. All domains hosted on our servers will have an SSL certificate assigned automatically within a few hours of setup. I would recommend the Premium Plan as that will give you more flexibility in getting the look and feel you want.
https://wordpress.com/premiumWith the site crashed, it will be harder to transfer content over automatically, since we won’t have a source. You can do that manually though, like this:
https://transferto.wordpress.com/drag-and-drophtml-site-builders/For now I’d recommend creating a page here for each page the old site had, and copying the content over by hand if you can find a copy of it. You might have copies there on your computer, or you can use something like WayBack Machine to find it.
Does that help? If not, send more details and we’ll go from there.

So, I’m working with GoDaddy to get the site up and running again. But can I register my domain with WordPress as well as have you host our site?

We have two options for using a domain you already own on a site hosted here:
Mapping allows you to keep the domain registered with your current domain registrar and direct it to your WordPress.com site: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
A transfer would allow to manage both your site and domain from the same place: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/
