mapping domain

  • Unknown's avatar

I mapped my domain carletticonsulting.it. Probably I made an error. I mapped before to change the my registrar DNS. He changed the DNS correcly yesterday at 23.00 central europe time. At the moment I can’t see the blog. I don’t know if it’s too early or not.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello there!

I do see that carletticonsulting.it was updated with the proper WordPress.com nameservers, but the changes haven’t propagated throughout the internet. This means things could look “broken” up to 72-hours.

You can change your primary domain here at WordPress.com, so visitors can at least see andreacarletticonsulting.wordpress.com until your domain’s nameservers are pointing to WordPress.com.

To do this, go to your Dashboard:

    http://andreacarletticonsulting.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

Then click Store → My Domains.

Choose andreacarletticonsulting.wordpress.com and make it your primary domain. You can keep these settings until you see that ONLY WordPress.com’s servers are listed here:

    http://who.is/whois/carletticonsulting.it

    Currently, they are showing as:
    dns.technorail.com
    dns2.technorail.com
    dns3.arubadns.net
    dns4.arubadns.cz

When they display as ns1.wordpress.com, ns2.wordpress.com and ns3.wordpress.com, you can make carletticonsulting.it your primary domain.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!

Are you sure everything is ok. The change was 60h ago but I can’t see my site on line and mail is not working.

    Thanks

  • Unknown's avatar

Someone can say me what’s the problem?

    Thanks

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi again,

I am still not showing that your nameservers have changed with your domain registrar:

    http://who.is/whois/carletticonsulting.it

    They must be adjusted to:
    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

Until those are setup properly, your domain will not function in the way you need. You should check with your domain registrar to see why the change is delayed.

    Thank you!

This is my registar answer. They say change is impossible because your DNS are not ok. Now I don’t know what to do.

    Gentile cliente,

    verificarne l’effettiva operatività. In particolare:
    1. I name Server autoritativi per il nome a dominio devono essere almeno 2 (due) e devono corrispondere esattamente a quelli presenti nella richiesta di registrazione del nome a dominio o di modifica degli host;
    2. gli indirizzi IPv4 e IPv6, se specificato, degli host subordinati al nome a dominio devono
    corrispondere a quelli ad essi realmente associati nel DNS;
    3. gli indirizzi IPv4 e IPv6, se specificato, degli host subordinati al nome a dominio devono
    entrambi rispondere in modo autoritativo;
    4. al nome a dominio non può essere associato un record CNAME;
    5. il nome del nameserver specificato nel record SOA non può essere un CNAME;
    6. i nomi dei nameserver autoritativi per il nome a dominio non possono essere dei CNAME;
    7. al record MX, eventualmente presente, non può essere associato un CNAME;
    8. se, durante la procedura di controllo, almeno un nameserver restituisce una delle seguenti risposte:
Gestione delle operazioni sincrone sui nomi a dominio nel ccTLD .it Linee Guida Versione 1.4
    o Not responding
    o Not reachable
    o Not running
    o Non-existent domain
    o Host not found
    o Server failure
    o Query failed

The record MX is not ok: they say I have to ask you to remouve the record MX from you configuration or to insert a new record MX that is ok. I think it’t wrong. I can I use my old e-mail?
I don’t know what to do. Now my email doesn’t work like the blog.

  • Unknown's avatar

My registrar say it is not possible to have email with them using your NS. He say you have to sat me your A NAME or C NAME.
I don’t know what to do. Can you answer me?

    Thanks

P.s.: is it possible that any blog in wordpress is connected to Aruba? It is one of the most important web hoster in Italy!!!

  • Unknown's avatar

Finally they ask me your Aname or Cname and they will put it in their server. in this way they say everything will work.

    I wait your answer

    Thanks

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

I apologize for the delay. I went ahead and removed the MX record from your domain so the name servers method should now work. Could you ask them to try to add the name servers one last time?

  • Unknown's avatar

I need to use (email visible only to moderators and staff) email and the registrar (Aruba) say me that if I change NS my email will not work. Are you sure that will not happen?
They say me to ask you A-NAME or C-NAME. Is it possible to have?

Do you know other people that have email with Aruba and that have their blog with you? How they solve the problem?

    Thanks

  • Unknown's avatar

    See below!

I need to use (email visible only to moderators and staff) email and the registrar (Aruba) say me that if I change NS my email will not work. Are you sure that will not happen?

If you change the name servers on your domain, your email will temporarily stop working. However, once you move your email records over to WordPress.com, the email address should start working correctly. Here are instructions on how to enter DNS records (email records) at WordPress.com:

    Manage Your DNS Records

I’m happy to help you with this!

They say me to ask you A-NAME or C-NAME. Is it possible to have?

We don’t allow mapping by CNAME. However, it is possible to do it through IP address. You can use any of the following:

    66.155.11.238
    76.74.254.123
    76.74.254.120
    66.155.9.238
    192.0.81.250

Please note, these may change at any time. So, we recommend adding at least 2-3 A records just in case. That way, your domain will not go down unless we change all of the IP addresses.

If you go this route, your email records will not need to be moved.

Please let me know what route you want to go!

  • Unknown's avatar

I send your information to Aruba. They will decide what to do. Do you think it is better to wait or to delete immediatly the mapping I have done?

    Thanks

  • Unknown's avatar

Let’s keep it up for right now. Once we figure out how we want to map the domain (A record or name servers), we can adjust the date of the upgrade since you’ve had it for quite awhile without the domain working!

  • Unknown's avatar

My registrar just used A record. In 24h he say the new configuration will be ready.

    Thanks

  • Unknown's avatar

Please say me if mapping is ok now.

    Thanks

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

It looks like the domain is now working! You might need to clear your browser cache for it to work on your site:

    Solve common browser issues

I have bumped the Premium bundle trial expiration date to 10/21/14 as a result of the delay.

Please let me know if you need anything else!

Now I can see the site. If I go to domain section it continue to say that DNS are not ok, but I think it is because we use A name and not wordpress NS. If this is not a technical problem, for me it’s ok.

If I correctly understand till 10/21/14 I continue to have trial Premium bundel and from that date I start to pay 80$ every year for Premium bundle. Is It correct? I will not pay for domain mapping because the price is included in Premium bundle. Is it correct?

Thanks a lot for your kind help

    Hi!

Now I can see the site. If I go to domain section it continue to say that DNS are not ok, but I think it is because we use A name and not wordpress NS. If this is not a technical problem, for me it’s ok.

Yep! That’s correct. You will continue to see the error message as the name servers are not pointed to WordPress.com. That’s alright though as your domain should continue to work correctly.

If I correctly understand till 10/21/14 I continue to have trial Premium bundel and from that date I start to pay 80$ every year for Premium bundle. Is It correct? I will not pay for domain mapping because the price is included in Premium bundle. Is it correct?

Exactly! The Premium bundle is currently set to renew automatically on 10/14/14 (a few days before the expiration date). We do this just in case there is an issue with the automatic renewal so we have time to alert you and you can manually renew the upgrade. However, when it renews, you’ll still get a full year (until 10/21/15) of the upgrade.

If you would like, you can disable automatic renewal here:

    https://andreacarletticonsulting.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades

Then, you can choose to renew the upgrade on 10/21/14 from that page linked above.

In either case, you will just pay €80.00 total (the domain mapping is included in that price).

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
