I’ve got the domain today so It might be that I have to wait, but just in case it’s something else I thought i’d contact
Thanks,

@superlennon
Nameservers Validated!
Congratulations! The nameservers appear to be set up correctly for rjalennon.com.
rjalennon.com is set as the primary domain for rjalennondotcom.wordpress.com and will appear in the address bar when you visit the site. -

No, I do not think you do not have the same problem. It seems that you deleted the underlying .wordpress.com blogs and there has to be an underlying owordpress.COM blog URL to map from to the domain.http://oaconchego.wordpress.com/ is no longer available.The authors have deleted this site.
What is the domain URL?
There is no way to map to a custom domain from any wordpress.COM blog without paying for an annual upgrade to map an existing domain.
re: mapping an existing domain
WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible.If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the WordPress.COM blog, and as you own a domain URL already, you can see here for mapping an existing domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made, it and the domain mapping purchase here, each and every year.
Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually and a domain name purchase and domain mapping are included in the Premium upgrade bundle.
In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL. If you do not register a .wordpress.com blog URL first then the software supplies the dot whatever URL so you can proceed with your domain mapping purchase.

Your billing history will be at Dashboard > Store > Billing History

It can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

I see that the mapping subscription did go through. Good!
Let me know if you still have any questions or issues.

Thanks for replying, it turns out it was just my card that wasn’t going through and it had to be done using Paypal. Panic over! :)
