Mapping Domain and www subdomain
-
I have just ported my DNS to WordPress (from Namecheap) and bought DNS mapping option ($12).
When I try to access http://www.tryphoon.com, I am redirected to tryphoon.com and subdomain mapping doesn’t seem to work as I’d like it to. e.g. if trying to access directly a post, using the FQDN (example http://www.tryphoon.com/2012/03/13/maiden-flight/), the link fails. Trying to access any subdomain (incl. www) redirects me to tryphoon.com where I would like it to be http://www.tryphoon.com.
Where and how can I set this (@ record?)

Hi there,
I’m able to view the post you mention just fine at these URLs:
http://www.tryphoon.com/2012/03/13/maiden-flight/
http://tryphoon.com/2012/03/13/maiden-flight/WordPress.com always redirects the www subdomain to the non-www version. Because of this, you can still use www version of your custom domain on your signature or business cards if you’d like. It’s really not possible to change this.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the ultra prompt response. I see the same behavior as well now… One question though: In the case of private posts, it seems that I am still redirected to my old hosting provider (Posterous) and am receiving an error message. Should I just wait a bit longer?

It can take a few hours for domain changes to take full effect — technically up to 72 hours, but usually much shorter.
I recommend waiting a few more hours, and then checking again.
