Mapping domain deleted from goDaddy
-
I want to purchase a domain I deleted from GoDaddy through WordPress.
I think there is a time period where it stays registered but I want to have WordPress host my site ASAP.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey Adam,
I doesn’t appear as if GoDaddy has released your domain for resale yet. You can contact their support staff to see when that might happen, so you can register it here.
I notice that you have Domain Mapping for adamspudshaw.com set up here. If you want to register the domain here as well, you’ll need to cancel the domain mapping first, or else the sale for the domain registration will not go through.
Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!

Thank you thatrobyn :) I thought that was the case. I think it was up to a week but I just wanted to be sure. And yes I do have domain mapping set up there. How do I cancel domain mapping, I tried to do that? Any more help is appreciated, thank you!
-
Adam,
No problem :)
If you’re having difficulty at all, I’m happy to disconnect domain mapping for you. Just confirm that I have permission from you to do so, and I’ll take care of it asap.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

That would be great if you could, it doesn’t seem to be working out for me. You have my permission. I would like to get registered through WordPress asap.

Hey Adam!
Thanks for the confirmation.
I took care of that for you. I’ve removed the mapping for adampudshaw.com from your WordPress.com site. Whenever your domain is freed up for purchase, you can do so in your Dashboard, here:
https://adamspudshaw.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php
Just click Add a Domain, and go through the steps as outlined.
If I can help with anything else, please let me know! Cheers :)

Thanks again! So it says that adamspudshaw.com is already taken and I am guessing that GoDaddy is still holding on to it. Should I be following up with them or is there something you can do to “force” the domain over to WordPress so WordPress can host it? Unfortunately I can’t attach an image here to show you what’s happening.
Thanks again for the great support!

Adam,
Would that I could force the domain over! Unfortunately, that is up to GoDaddy. I think it’s absolutely worth asking them to release it. It’s possible they may ask a fee for this. Just a heads up.
I hope this goes quickly, easily, and cheaply :)
Let me know how it works out. Thanks!

So I received an Authorization Code from GoDaddy to release the website and I think I need your administrative privileges to help me transfer? Do I proceed with providing you with this code?
-
Hey Adam,
While we register new domains here at WordPress.com, we’re not able to accept incoming transfers of existing domain names. So, it’s not a code we need from GoDaddy. Authorization codes are for domain transfers, specifically.
GoDaddy needs to release the canceled domain name so you can purchase/register it here at WordPress.com. You’ll do this just as if you were registering it for the very first time. However, this time, you’ll be doing it at WordPress.com, rather than GoDaddy.
Hope that makes sense. If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Yes and they are going to cancel it again for me and it’s 5-30 days to get it back. I will have to check every few days or so. I think I’m all set now… thanks again for your help! – Adam

Adam,
they are going to cancel it again for me and it’s 5-30 days to get it back
For your sake, my fingers are crossed for five days :)
When you go through the registration process here at WordPress.com, if there’s anything you need, please let us know!
Thanks much. All the best to you!
