Mapping Domain Expired
-
I was so focused on making sure my domain name (lovesongsfortherestofus.com) didn’t expire, I screwed up and forgot to also make sure the domain mapping renewed (to lovesongsfortherestofus.blogspot.com), and now it has expired because it was linked to a credit card I needed to cancel.
Is there any way for me to renew the domain mapping at the usual rate of $13, as I have done in the past. If I try to link it now it prompts me to upgrade to premium and pay $99, which I can’t quite afford and I otherwise do not need a premium account.
Thank you for any help.

Hi there,
The mapping expired recently enough that I could still restore it to your account. Please go to the Purchases page and you should be able to renew it from there.

If it won’t let you renew without adding a plan it means the upgrade has already been expired too long. In that case you can also renew it by adding the Personal Plan via My Site ->Plans. It doesn’t have to be the Premium Plan.
Also note that if you let the mapping expire again the only way to add it back would be by purchasing a plan.

Thank you so much! I will be careful to update my credit card information in the future!

Glad I could help :)
Please make sure you renew it before April 10, though. I see it’s not yet renewed for the new year. I only restored it to give you that ability.

Hi there, I’m sorry to bother you with this again, but after you helped me last time I set up my account to automatically renew on April 10 with a new credit card, and I then I was out of town and offline until yesterday. Lo and behold I got an email saying the “renewal failed” so now the mapping is gone again. Do you know why this would be? I checked the credit card information I put in and it is all correct.
Thank you so much!

You needed to renew it, not just update credit card information.
I was still able to add it back. Please make sure you click the Renew Now button on Purchases and complete the renewal.
If it automatically adds a plan at checkout, you’ll need to add the Personal Plan to renew the mapping. In that case please let me know before you proceed.

That seems to have worked without adding the plan. Thank you!
I’m still not totally clear on what happened before because I had my account set up to auto renew, which it still shows is the case now, and I did get an email acknowledging that I had tried to renew, but it said that the renewal failed and I don’t know why that would be.
Regardless, I’ll be sure to keep better track of it before it is set to renew next year and not just assume the auto renew will work.
Thanks again!
