Mapping Domain – have I done this the wrong way around?
-
I considered myself technically literate, but I’ve confused myself with this one!
I wanted my existing domain wherecomfortends.org (which currently points to a bytemark server with wordpress on a server) to point to my wordpress free site wherecomfortends.wordpress.com, as I want to move away from hosting and be on free hosting again.
I therefore followed the map the existing domain article.
Now, my blog wherecomfortends.wordpress.com is pointing at wherecomfortends.org to the bytemark software, and wherecomfortends.org is still pointing at the bytemark software (I have updated my nameservers on the hosting to point to wordpress).
I’m unsure if I’ve done the opposite of what I want to do – or, whether the nameservers just haven’t changed to point to wherecomfortends.wordpress.com yet. Any advice?

Hello!
WordPress recommends a 72 hour wait time to allow propagation and a clearing of your browsers cache. Can you confirm you have done both?

http://wherecomfortends.org/ – loads to a WordPress.COM blog that says ‘Under Construction” at the top Post
Take a long walk (serious) and have your favorite beverage – you will be the last one to see the changes due to caching issues
Hold Your Horses!
It can take as long as 72 hours for DNS changes to become widely available. If you’re still not seeing your site loading at wherecomfortends.org, please wait a few more hours, clear your browser cache, and try again.
Nameservers Validated!Congratulations! The nameservers appear to be set up correctly for wherecomfortends.org.

Oh perfect, thanks for fast response! I knew about cache issue and 72 hours, I just had a panic and didn’t know if I had done the opposite of what I wanted, and in fact pointed wherecomfortends.wordpress.com to wherecomfortends.org. Glad I seem to have done the right thing!
