mapping domain name

    Hello,
I am following your instruction of mapping an existing domain.
I did the first step and update your domain’s “name servers”
When I went Store – Domain – Add Domain, and entered my domain name WFFOganicBeef.com.
it did not give me the option of purchasing domain mapping, instead it takes me to new registration page where I need to fill in all the information and pay $18. I know mapping domain free in only $13/yr.
Could you help me with this? Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

P.S. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Yes, I did all the steps but it is not giving me an option for purchase domain mapping. so I guess the domain name propagation is still in progress. I will come back later and check it.

    Thank you.

  • Howdy,

Visiting http://wfforganicbeef.com/ brings me to your website, so it looks like everything might be updated now. If anything is still amiss, please respond back to this thread and I’m happy to dig deeper.

    Cheers!

    Yes, that part is done.
My new problem is about DNS record that I need to enter
in order to get my client to access to their email box that is disabled after I mapped the domain name.

The DNS record/info Hostmysite the hosting company gave me are:
    MX mail59.safesecureweb.com. 10
    CNAME mail59.safesecureweb.com.
But when I enter it says they are not correct. Can you help me to solve the problem?
    Thank you

  • Howdy,

I added the MX record for you (via https://wffoganicbeef.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains&action=dnsedit&domain=wfforganicbeef.com ). The CNAME record is incomplete since it isn’t saying what subdomain should point to mail59.safesecureweb.com, though the MX record doesn’t require it, so I don’t see the need for it.

E-mails should begin to work momentarily, once the update has been passed throughout the Internet.

If you have any questions or need anything else, please let me know!
