Mapping Domain to wordpress from an owned domain

    Hi,

I own a small driving school and have had my website done by a freelancer many years ago. I am considering WordPress because I want to edit and design my website without going through a freelancer. I never used WordPress before but my friends recommended me. I did my research and find out the mapping domain but I do not know how it works exactly. If I pay the subscription for it, does that mean I can modify and change the design of my website through WordPress?

Thank you so much for your kind support.

  • Hi qmvo1992! I’m glad you asked.

Mapping a domain means you will point your domain to a site you have created or imported here to our services. If you haven’t created a site yet, you would just see a blank page, so I’d recommend setting up the site as you like it, first, then adding the domain.

Also: please note WordPress comes in two major flavors: free software, or our services. Our services include hosting, security, and support, or if you’d like to handle that on your own you can run a copy with another hosting provider.

If you decide to host your site here, we can give you a free address that you can use as you start your site. Paid plans get direct support, and we have a lot of documents and tools to help along the way. We also have paid services that can build the site here for you, if you’d like: https://wordpress.com/built-by-wordpress-com/?ref=forums
