Mapping domain without premium

Hello, I have had my wordpress website and domain mapped for few years but last year my CC expired and I didn’t pay mapping fee on time. Now when I try to do so, wordpress is forcing me to upgrade to premium, which I do not want to do. Is there a way around it? Or should I just transfer the domain? to wordpress

Hi there,
In order to map a domain you need an upgraded plan, but you don’t need to upgrade to Premium, you can use the Personal Plan, you just need to add the plan first. If you add the domain first, Premium is selected automatically.

You need to continue to pay for a domain where it is originally hosted. With a WordPress.com plan you get a free credit to either set up a new domain or map an existing one that was purchased elsewhere. This support doc https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/ says:-
If you already have a domain and you want to use it with your WordPress.com blog, follow the instructions for mapping an existing domain. We do not currently support incoming domain transfers, but you can still get any domain to work with your WordPress.com blog.

Hi there,
At the moment it’s not possible to transfer a domain registration to WordPress.com, so it’s still only possible to map it here.
As the mapping upgrade you used to own has already been removed from your account it’s not possible any more to add it back without a paid plan.
