Mapping Domains

    I am trying to map a domain I already own from some else, but when I try to add it, it is always bringing up the checkout to enter my credit card details and asking for a payment when it says on the left ‘Domain Mapping – annual subscription – Free with your plan’. So, why does it need a payment and what will I be paying for?

    You will be paying for a WordPress.com plan – either a WordPress.com Personal plan, WordPress.com Premium plan or WordPress.com Business plan, based on your choice.

    To map your existing domain to your WordPress.com site, you will need an upgraded account as mentioned on this document. https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

    It’s not possible to link map a custom domain without an upgraded WordPress.com plan (with a free WordPress.com plan)
