mapping issue since I didnt renew a customized URL
-
Guys,
I’m still having a mapping issue since I opted not to renew my customised URL raphaelsllegacy.me. People are telling my that when they try to view my site now at orionbrightstar.wordpress.com by clicking on links that they get a message saying that the site is not there or it has been deleted. Traffic to my sight since this switch has dropped off to zero and I’ve asked this question two weeks ago and really didn’t get any form of satisfactory resolution. My question is is there something in the backend of wordpress mapping that needs fixed because at the moment raphaelslegacy.me is still active in all the major search engines albeit when the URL is clicked you’re directed to my login which is clearly an inappropriate mapping issue. Please help me to resolve this, as quickly as possible as this is becoming very boring now, regards, B

Hi there,
The domain, raphaelsllegacy.me, no longer exists. You cancelled it on 18 October 2016. So if anyone try to enter that domain in their browsers they will get a notice that the site doesn’t exist. That is accurate.
Upon cancellation of that domain your site reverted to the free address, http://orionbrightstar.wordpress.com, so that’s what people need to put in their browsers now to reach your site.
Search engines can still show the old address for several weeks after cancellation. They will need to re-index your site at the free address before the free address will start showing in search results. This typically takes 4 to 8 weeks. We have no control over that process, so there is nothing that can be done on our end to change this.

Hi There,
Many thanks for your prompt feedback. I have managed to solve the issue with mapping now and it was that I hadn’t changed the web address in my gravitar from raphaelslegacy.me to my new orionbrightstar.wordpress URL. That said; many thanks anyway, regards, B

Ah, I didn’t think to check your Gravatar profile as well. Good catch :)
Google will still take a few weeks to index the change, but once they do your search traffic should return to what it was before.
