Mapping my already-registered domain to MY WordPress blog?
-
May I receive some help pointing/mapping my already-registered domain to my actual WordPress site? I’ve changed the NameServers to the IP options given, but when I type my domain, the WordPress HOME page comes up, instead of MY WordPress site. I attempted to purchase some mapping, but the Domain section of WordPress doesn’t give me the option, stating I haven’t changed the NameServers yet…but I did. My current domain is PlatinumLawsuit.com and I’d like it to point to PlatinumLawsuit.WordPress.com.

You can’t use IP addresses directly – you need to use the nameservers provided.
Your nameservers are currently set to
ns1.mdnsservice.com
ns2.mdnsservice.com
ns3.mdnsservice.comThey need to be
ns1.wordpress.com
ns2.wordpress.com
ns3.wordpress.comOnce this is done, you’ll be able to complete the domain mapping.
Let us know if you need any additional assistance with this.

Thanks Yoavf, I’ll try again; but I tried to use those nameservers and my site gave me an error message saying it wasn’t a verified site and to try again. It wouldn’t even let me press the “Apply” button using NS1.WORDPRESS.COM (or the others), just gave me the error message. So when I inserted the IP numbers, it let me “Apply” the new settings.
I’ll try again and be back shortly to report.

Yep, still gives me this message in red bold letters:
“Please enter a valid IP address for your A Records.”For some reason, it doesn’t like the NS1.WORDPRESS.COM option. It wasn’t numbers. Any suggestions? :)

It sounds like you’re trying to enter A records. We can’t do mapping via A records, you’ll need to change the nameservers.
I recommend contacting your domain registrar about this.

Yep, they’re the ones that showed me how to change the A records. We first tried the NS1.WORDPRESS.COM thing in the NameServer section, but this is the message I got:
“One or more of the nameservers you entered cannot be verified as an accurate nameserver. Please double check your entry, and if you have any questions contact the registrar to which you are attempting to direct your domain.”
So, I contacted you guys. :)I wish I was smarter when it came to this stuff. I’m completely humbled at the moment.

WAIT, I might’ve accidentally fixed it! I’ve been using all THREE of those NS1 entries…but I tried just the ONE and I didn’t get an error message in red! It might work! I’ll be back with exclamation points if it for-really worked! :)
-
Ok, I was able to “apply” the ns1.wordpress.com as the NameServer, but when I went to WordPress to let ’em know I “fixed it”, it still says:
“Currently the nameservers for this domain appear to be:
64.98.148.11″
Do I just need to wait a little bit longer? -
Not even a MINUTE after I pressed “submit” on this thing, I looked back at your WordPress site and everything went through just fine! :) :) :) :) <– that’s how happy I am right now. Thank you for your help!!! :)
