mapping my blog
-
Hi on Friday I mapped my wordpress account from totellastory12.wordpress.com to blog.lovinglynatural.com. When I log into my wordpress account the url is still saying totellastory12.wordpress.com. When it maps over does it mean that the url will change? I have created a website with Volusion.com and will be linking my blog with the website. I just want my url to say blog.lovinglynatural.com.
Thanks

Hi Mel,
It looks like you’ve correctly setup a subdomain mapping for blog.lovinglynatural.com and set blog.lovinglynatural.com as the primary domain. When I visit totellastory12.wordpress.com it redirects to blog.lovinglynatural.com.
However it looks like you’ve not yet setup a CNAME record according to Step #1 in our guide:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/#instructions-for-mapping-subdomains
Because of that, blog.lovinglynatural.com doesn’t display your WordPress.com blog, it just redirects to http://kjpth.clyvv.servertrust.com/Default.asp.
Once you setup the CAME record in your domain’s settings, visiting blog.lovinglynatural.com will display your blog, and your readers will only see ‘blog.lovinglynatural.com’ in the web address not anything about WordPress.com.
However, your dashboard settings here at WordPress.com will always display that WordPress.com address, like this one:
https://totellastory12.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
Your readers won’t have to see that though. :)
Let me know if you have questions about those CNAME steps.
