  Hi there, I already own a domain name. So why do I need to pay you for the Domain name I have alreadfy acquired etc?

  Although you have paid for the domain itself through your current provider, that doesn’t include the cost of connecting it to WordPress.com — which is why you are being asked to upgrade.

  The domain credit included in the plan will cover the cost of mapping (or transferring the domain to WordPress.com).
