  hi, I am trying to transfer my domain that I bought from another seller. But when I do it tells me that I still need to pay for the domain even I bought it already.

  Hi there,

  That is correct – using your own domain on WordPress.com is a paid service we provide. You’ve paid a different company for the domain. You still need to pay us for the service we provide.

  If you transfer the domain to us, that also costs us money – we have to pay the domain registry for the transfer, and for the automatic renewal of your domain that is included in that process.

  So using your own existing domain requires one of our paid plans, regardless of whether you transfer the domain to us, or just map it.
