Mapping my domain with personal account

    Hi. I started the process of making my site. It is: danielavfernadez.wordpress.com. I have already purchased a domain name though, ‘danielavfernandez.com.’ If I choose the personal plan at ~$36 annually, it says I can use my own domain. When I clicked the ‘map’ option to add danielavfernandez.com to my wordpress site of danielavfernandez.wordpress.com, it did not make me verify that danielavfernandez is my domain. I am a bit confused. It goes straight to asking me for my credit card information to upgrade to the personal plan. Can I verify somewhere that danielavfernandez.com is mine and that I can use it on the personal account of wordpress before buying the personal account. Is there a refund if I change my mind?

    Hi,

    If you have purchased a domain name danielavfernandez.com, you will have the email confirming that and the validity of the domain name. You can even look it up on whois service, such as whois.icann.org for the ownership of the domain name.

    danielavfernadez.wordpress.com does not exist at present.

    To be able to use danielavfernandez.com, you will have to be able to change the nameserver record with the registrar. You will have to search for the emails related to your domain name purchase or get in touch with the agency that you purchased domain name from.

    Hi there,

    There is no verification to map a domain to a WordPress.com site.

    In order for the mapping to work, you need to either change the domain’s name servers or IP address to point it to WordPress.com. You won’t be able to do that if you’re not the domain owner, so anyone adding domain mapping for a domain they don’t own is just wasting their money on an upgrade they can never use.

    Did you register the domain with a domain provider? Then it’s yours. Only you would know if you did that.

    use it on the personal account of wordpress before buying the personal account.

    You can add domain mapping with the Personal Plan. First go to My Site ->Plans and add the plan there, and then you can add domain mapping via My Site ->Domains.
