mapping my mapped domain to godaddy
-
I purchased my domain in January, and now have purchased a self-hosted wordpress account with godaddy. Do I need to purchase mapping again to make the “edit” option appear on the A record?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Robin,
I believe you don’t have to purchase mapping again. There are 3 options you can choose to Move Your Domain to Another Host, which you can learn more here:

Because I can’t move the domain until March (just purchased in January), I need to add a new A record. It is asking for a name, but it has .ladybossmom.com after it, so it shows as ladybossmom.ladybossmom.com, which makes no sense. I tried using @ and * but neither are valid.

Are you following these instructions:
Take a look through that page and let me know if you have any further questions. I’ll be happy to help.

Josh, if you could answer the question I have posed above that would be great. I have been given those instructions twice now, and knowing what steps I need to follow is not the issue. The problem is that there is no option to edit the existing A record, so I have to add a new one. When adding a new one, the “name” field has the unremovable extension of .ladybossmom.com , making the entire name of the blog I am trying to edit the A record for “ladybossmom.ladybossmom.com“. I either need to know how to edit the existing A record, or what I need to do to be able to edit it, or I need to know how to get rid of that extension.

Can you post the instructions that GoDaddy gave you for this? What A Record are you trying to set up specifically?
Is there a reason that you are using an A Record instead of Nameservers? GoDaddy has been real keen on pushing A Records recently for some reason, but nameservers are a lot easier and work just as well.

It’s likely that you don’t need to remove the extension at all – instead just leave it blank and then save it with the new IP address.

josh, I am trying to set the A record for my primary domain to point to the godaddy IP they provided me. I don’t know why they specified the A record instead of the nameservers, but they have made it difficult to find their nameservers, so that people will default to the A record. And WP has made it difficult to chnge the A record, so that we will default to nameservers.
The domain is showing on my GD side, but they insist an update to the A record is required.

I need to create/edit my A DNS record as well, but am having the same problem.
